You Are Invited to (re)source: The Value of Green Residential Properties
Chattanooga, TN (5 August, 2009) – In partnership with green|spaces, Eric Myers and Christian Rushing, Collier Construction has announced the premier of (re)source: The Value of Green Residential Properties. The seminar is geared toward real estate agents who will be able to earn CEU’s for attending; however the class is open to the general public. It will be held on August 25 at green|spaces.
The Value of Green Residential Properties is a 2 hour seminar comprised of four presentations by LEED accredited professionals from across the spectrum of the residential building industry. Urban design consultant Christian Rushing, architect Eric Myers, builder Ethan Collier, and interior designer Anj McClain will address the cost benefits of green residential properties and how to recognize sustainable building practices.
The seminar will equip participants with a familiarity of the US Green Building Council’s LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes certification process and rating system as well as an in-depth and working knowledge of how sustainable design and green building practices contribute to the growing demand for green homes and sustainable development.
According to the USGBC, the overall green building market is expected to more than double by 2013, and the value of green building construction is likely to increase to $60 billion by 2010.
"This seminar is ultimately about the benefits and costs of buying a green home," said Ethan Collier, president and CEO of Collier Construction. "We are currently seeing the real estate community responding to the green building movement. And as our city continues to promote sustainability, it is vital that homebuyers understand how green homes are built differently to offer environmental, health and financial benefits.”
Seminar topics include energy consumption of buildings and the cost benefits of sustainable design; the health and cost benefits of sustainable interior design; how to recognize green building techniques and the cost benefits of living in a green home; and the characteristics and benefits of green neighborhood development.
The seminar will run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. on August 25 and will be held at green|spaces. Light catering will be provided and the cost is $10 per person.
Participants should RSVP via email at www.collierbuild.com/page/contact
